The Woodline
Why do I frame my work
WHEN I
need to express changes and
ups and downs
throughout
our lives?
Straight lines demand accuracy and order but I enjoy curvy lines with loops, knots and twists. I put this to a test and created a 100 meter long line of branches along the border of our garden. It was MY wedding present to my son and daughter in law in 2012.
In 2013 I designed a photo book as a wedding present again to the cousin of my son and his wife with photos of this WOODLINE showing the seasonal changes.
The wriggling line appears to be accidental, but each branch grew influenced by the changes of light and wind and neighbouring plants near our garden.
As such the sticks put together here represent our time and life here.
The line starts outside MY STUDIO and then marks the limits of our garden, but also relates to the Shropshire plane far beyond our terrain. One arch of sticks I hung up from an ash tree framing the farmer’s right of way. A smaller arch further up marks the entrance to the YURTS as a great point of our life in THE BARN FRON UCHAF.
I am looking at all special lives around here with great interest and with my best wishes to all of us living here.
